Society without Violence NGO  launches a peace building project is entitled ''The highlight and raise of women’s role as peace builders  in the conflict resolution situations: Strengthening of Women in Black movement in Armenia” with the financial support of  Mama Cash Foundation.

The project has the objective to aware and educate more young women and girls  in farthest regions of Armenia on Women in Black action, to empower them with neccessary knowledge and tools so that they could  integrate into Women in Black-Armenia vigil group and widespread the movement throughout Armenia. The women will get information on their essential role in the conflict resolution and will  have a chance to be a part of a integral movement for peace.

In the frames of this project Women in Black of Armenia vigil group blog will be launched, where the flow of information activities by WiB of Armenia vigil group will be shared with the international network of Women in Black.

For the share of information, experience and a new source of inspiration and empowerment, aguest speaker from other WiB vigil group country will be invited to Armenia for the meeting with Armenian young women and girls who have recently get involved in WiB of Armenia vigil group movement.

R apid Response Unit: revolution in women’s rights protection

Rapid Response Unit (RRU) is a new, innovative initiation of Society without violence NGO, which is going to be a very optimal way of giving a response to gender based violence cases from the whole territory of Armenia. The Rapid Response Unit is a very unique working team, which will detect the gender based violence cases, make rapid investigation and provide the victim with a social and juridical contribution.

The idea of having such a project comes from SWV NGO’s vision of achieving a society without violence against women.

P romotion of Gender Studies Integration into the curriculum of high school program of Armenia/2012-2014

Society Without Violence NGO with the financial support of Kvinna till Kvinna Swedish organization has launched 2-year project on the “Promotion of Gender Studies Integration into the curriculum of high school program of Armenia”.

Today the educational package at the high school level includes "Social Science" subject in the frames of which the gender studies are slightly touched upon. Our activities in the frames of this project are aimed at the understanding, reviewing and analyzing the educational background, promoting innovative approaches in the education sphere for gender. Working in the direction of changing the this style of teaching, as well renewing the textbooks from the gender prospective will enable to have more self-confident, powerful, strong and successful women in our society representing all aspects of life, women in politics, women human rights defenders, business women, women peace builders.

For the accomplishment of the following project objectives we intend to include a new region (Tavush) for our trainings on gender equality and women’s leadership. It is anticipated to hold a 2-day training program for the young women and girls from regional colleges and universities. The first day of the training will be devoted to gender equality and domestic violence theme and the second day of the training to women’s leadership. We are going to educate overall 100-125 young women and girls to become women human rights defender, enlarge SWV Network and include at least 5 volunteers per region in the network.

E mpowerment of women: Promotion of young women’s integration into SWV Network/2011

The project aims at Empowerment of regional women and their further promotion as women activists.

In the frames of this project we trained 4 active girls who are our former participants of SWV activities as well as 2 SWV volunteers as trainers on gender equality. These 4 girls represent 4 different regions of Armenia: Shirak, Lori, Gegharkunik and Syunik. SWV qualified trainers trained these girls by providing relevant information, skills, tools and methodology clues for the delivery of the trainings on gender equality. This ToT took place in Yerevan, where the selected 4 women from the regions were hosted.

This 2-day ToT included sessions on information on international treaties on women’s rights (Universal Declaration on Human Rights, US resolution 1325, Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women CEDAW), introduction on gender studies, women’s movements worldwide and success stories.

V oluntary based project “Movie screening”/since 2011

Since summer 2011 “Society Without Violence” NGO is organizing thematic movie screenings. This project is on voluntary bases, fully initiated by SWV NGO volunteers. The project interested and became loved by many young people in a very short time.

The main goal of movie screenings is to have informal meetings with youth and speak with them on gender quality, gender based stereotypes and women’s rights. The other goal of the project is to promote volunteering, integrate new volunteers to SWV as well as strengthen and enlarge SWV Network in Yerevan.

Movie screenings are organized twice a month. Participants suggest thematic movies about woman’s role in our society, gender equality, feminism as well as other aspects of Human Rights. The movie is choosen by the participants themselves troughout on line elections on Facebook.

T he role of women peace builder in conflict resolutions/2010-2011

Seminars in GorisSeminars in GorisThis project aims at recognitionof women as part of peace building process for conflict resolution situations, self-confidence raise of women in border villages of Armenia, promotion of women peace builders role as well as dissemination of practical recommendations for conflict resolution situationsmade by women as peace builders.

In the frames of these project a series of civic forums on conflict resolution process and involvement of women peace builders are discussed with young women living in the border villages of Armenian bordering region.

The first phase of the project is implementation of civic forum for young women living in the south-eastern regional villages.

This phase anticipates the implementation of three-day civic forum on confict resolution process and women's role as peace-builders in the peace building process. The participants are20-25 women aged from 18-35mainly students, journalists and public activitists, as well as interested women.
