On the way of implementing a number of programs, "Society without Violence" NGO also implements the project, called "Increase women's participation and security in peace-building and security operations, by creating a basis for the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 for the creation of National Action Plan", financed by the UK Conflict, Security and Stability Fund, through the British Embassy.
The above program implemented the "Women, peace and security agenda. Implementation and advocacy of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "capacity building workshop, on October 30, in Women Resource Center of Kapan, which aimed to address women's involvement in peace building processes to inform civil society organizations members of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325, as well as to provide them with practical knowledge of the National Action Plan advocacy.
Representatives of NGOs from Goris and Kapan, have shown great interest in participating and being informed of UN Security Council Resolution 1325.
The training was conducted by the SWV Project Manager Anush Khachatryan, who initially presented what is Women, peace and security agenda, talked about the nature and mechanisms of implementing 1325 Resolution.
During the second part of the training it was mainly talked about the UN resolution 1325 and its core pillars. The training was followed by an interesting discussion, which presented the NGOs members’ level of involvement in these implementation processes.
Participants also discussed main means of promoting women's involvement in peace-building operation.
During the discussion, there were also critical views that were opposed to women's involvement in peace-building and conflict-related, decision-making processes. These opinions sharpened discussions and made the process more interesting. Significant is the fact that the meaningful discussion broke stereotypes of men and women equal political involvement.
At the beginning and at the end of the training, NGO representatives filled evaluation sheets, which checked their initial awareness, gained knowledge during the training and shared experiences.
Based on the evaluation of participants, it can be said that the training greatly emphasized the importance of women's participation in peace building and decision-making processes, fostered participants’ motivation and commitment to include the mission of 1325 Resolution in their actions.
