Society without Violence NGO launches another project on peace building which is entitled “Armenian and Turkish young women for reconciliation and lasting peace through dialogue and art” with the financial support of German Marshall Fund and Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
The goal of this project is to highlight the role of Armenian and Turkish women as peace builders and develop confidence and cooperation between them through dialogue and art.
This project is a part of “Society Without Violence” NGO overall strategy of fostering the participation of women in decision making and peace building processes. The role of women in peace building in Armenia and Turkey is totally neglected or underrepresented. Women are deprived of the possibility to have their input in the negotiations, to be heard and to make their own steps toward confidence building and peace achievement in the region.
Thus, to foster the dialogue between women of Armenia and Turkey, SWV aims at giving them floor to look for new, innovative approaches to foster the dialogue and further cooperation first of all between themselves as the representatives of 2 conflicting states and then have their contribution in conflict resolution overall processes in local, national and regional levels.
