In Armenia LBGT people continue facing various problems while interacting with other members of the society and receiving diverse services in spheres of healthcare, education, etc. The following report elucidates the obstacles that members of LGBT community encounter in the healthcare system. The existing literature testifies to the fact that LGBT members feel unwelcome in healthcare settings, they have low rates of health insurance coverage and face physical and psychological violence.
The report not only scrutinizes the problems faced by LGBT patients in the healthcare system but also observes how specialists (doctors, psychologists, etc.) lack adequate educational background to treat LBGT patients. Based on the analyzed data, the report puts forward a range of recommendations that could be implemented by various state bodies while reforming the healthcare system.
