Why it is important to talk about sex? Sex education aims to reduce the risks of sexually transmitted infections and unplanned or unwanted pregnancies. It also aims to contribute to young pleople's positive experience of their sexuality and their ability to make informed decisions over their lifetime. Sex education reaches its goals when contributes both to help people to be safe and enjoy their sexuality, knowing what do they want and don't want for their bodies and minds.
On Friday 25th May, I holded a training about Sex Education at SWV office. It included information about human anatomy, the menstruation cycle, contraceptives, sexually transmitted infections and myths about sex. The training was planned to be interactive with
some simple activities where the participants could give their opinions about false ideas about sex and where it was possible verify that some myths already had fallen... and it really worked out!
The participants were really participative and weren't afraid to ask me whatever doubt that came to their minds so it was very easy to talk to them since they were very open-minded to all new information. Before the training was over we still had a while to discuss some anonymous questions that they wrote down so it was possible to share those worries or concerns that sometimes are difficult to ask because we feel shy.
It was a very nice and interesting evening who we all enjoyed. We laughed a lot, had interesting talks and also serious moments with important information that anyone wanted to miss, so quite a perfect time!
